Playing bridge takes hours to learn and perfect.
If you are a regular bridge player Bridge Base On-Line (https://www.bridgebase.com/) is free. It allows you to play with strangers from around the world, with your own partner or even your own table. My bridge group sets up our regular table and uses our cell phone teleconferencing feature to chat while we play.
If you have never played bridge, this is a great time to learn to play. There are lots of instructional programs out there, just check your app store.
Family games night
My family has committed to connecting once a week for a games and chat night. We have used the video chat feature on Messenger.
This week we will be playing “dictionary.” One of us (this rotates through all players) looks up an obscure word in an on-line dictionary and texts the word to other participants. They each make up their own definition and send it back individually to the person looking up the word. That person reads out all of the answers (while trying to hold back the laughter.) Each person selects the definition they think is correct. People get points for guessing the right definition and for the number of people who guess their definition. The person with the dictionary gets points for everyone who did not guess the correct definition.
I am looking for other ideas for games we can play remotely which allow more than 4 players. Thanks for your help. I will post any games that are successful.
To help members of Halifax’s Spencer House Seniors Centre stay connected and sociable, a Facebook page called “StickingTogether” has recently been created. It gives members (and any other seniors who wish to visit) a chance to share stories, photos, and jokes — and, if necessary, send messages that are appeals for assistance.
