*This year your donation will go farther than ever. CFIC is celebrating GivingTuesday for the entire month of December where each dollar you donate will be matched by an additional $2.50.*
GivingTuesday is a global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday. The “Opening day of the giving season,” it’s a time when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for favourite causes. In the same way that retailers take part in Black Friday, the giving community comes together for GivingTuesday.
This year give for the future of science.
We value the scientific process. We reject pseudoscience. We have come so far in understanding the world through the natural sciences, and yet we are bombarded with unfounded claims, untruths and nonsense from the modern equivalent of the snake oil salesman.

“Our House is on Fire” Greta Thunberg
Science provides the solutions to the earth’s most challenging issues. Yet science deniers are risking everything to move their personal agendas forward. And many desperate or disenfranchised Canadians flock to their compelling, yet faulty messaging.
Centre for Inquiry Canada believes in science.
Through our social media campaigns, our Critical Links monthly newsletter and our on-line events we promote science. We fight for:
- The environment
- Science based health care
- Science literacy
In 2020 CFIC:
- Provided workshops to improve science literacy
- Provided workshops to promote science and STEM
- Provided science-based information about COVID-19
You can replay our great science workshops on our YouTube channel.
Why give to CFIC?
Canada and the world are at risk. Your donation to CFIC ensures that we can continue to provide science-based information and to refute fake claims, pseudo-science and wishful thinking.
- The environment
- Science based medicine
- Population health
About CFIC
Our goal as an educational charity is to build a better Canada. That means a Canada in which citizens have the capacity to think critically about important matters, in which science is used to solve our big challenges and which the national agenda is free from religious influence. We want to ensure that the Canada our children inherit from us is better than the one we inherited from our parents.
CFIC has a broad objective of building community with three key core areas of focus.
Scientific Skepticism
We value the scientific process. We reject pseudoscience. We have come so far in understanding the world through the natural sciences, and yet we are bombarded with unfounded claims, untruths and nonsense from the modern equivalent of the snake oil salesman.
Critical Thinking
We value critical thinking as the search for what is true, as opposed to what we might want to be true, or what someone might want us to think is true. Critical thinking is self-directed, self-disciplined, self-monitored, and self-corrective thinking. We believe these basic concepts of critical thinking should be taught to schoolchildren. Canada would be better prepared for the future if we equipped our children with the ability to think critically.
Secularism
We value the right of every Canadian to be religious, or not. We promote the principle that Canada is a secular country, where government should neither fund nor promote any religion.
The Centre for Inquiry Canada (CFIC) is a registered education charity with branches in several parts of the country. We are a volunteer organization, wholly dependent on the generosity of our members and contributors.
